You cannot think your way out of a wound that happened before you had words.

Trauma-informed, 1-to-1 somatic coaching for women whose

early adoption still impacts them today.

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE

Adoption is often seen as a positive event ensuring a child grows up within a family, but losing your birth family can bring challenges that last into adulthood too.

The Unexplained Alarm System

When a partner is quiet or a friend doesn't reply, your body panics. Your heart races, your chest tightens, or you go completely numb. You know you might be overreacting, but you can’t stop the spiral.

The Overanalyser's Wall

You understand the psychology of your past perfectly, and you know your triggers. Yet your body still acts like it's in immediate danger. You can't think your way out of this.

The Exhausting Good Girl Blueprint

You’ve spent a lifetime managing everyone else’s comfort to ensure you are loved and accepted.  Inside, your nervous system is running a never-ending marathon of hypervigilance just to feel safe enough to exist.

The Involuntary Freeze

When you feel criticised or confronted, your mind goes blank and your voice chokes. You can't speak up, even though your brain knows exactly what you want to say.

The Eternal Outsider Feeling

Even in your closest relationships there's a persistent sense you don't fully belong. You're disconnected, yet craving a deeper connection you just can't seem to find.

Living with any one of these is exhausting. Living with all of them isn't really living at all.

Some women understand their adoption has been an issue for years. Others have always considered themselves fine with it, until something happened that made them think otherwise. Either way, if you’re here, know you’re not alone.

WHY THINKING YOUR WAY OUT ISN'T WORKING

Adoption is not just a story in your mind.

It is an experience that shaped your early nervous system before you had the words to understand it. When your body reacts to something today, it is reacting to a deep physical memory — your brain thinks you're being given away again.

Mindset work and positive thinking operate in the logical brain. But when your nervous system takes over, the logical brain goes offline. Talking about it helps. It just doesn't reach the place where the wound actually lives. That's where we go - the body.

INTRODUCING

Found

SOMATIC COACHING FOR ADOPTED WOMEN

6 MONTHS | FORTNIGHTLY | 1 TO 1 | ONLINE

Found isn't therapy. It's a combination of Integrated Somatic Psychology, coaching, and nervous system regulation - designed to help you handle life's challenges without your emotions and body taking over.

The wound formed before you had language for it - before memory, before understanding, before you had any way to make sense of what was happening. Which is why talking about it only goes so far.

We work where it actually lives: in the body, in the nervous system, in the place that held it all when there was nowhere else for it to go.

WHAT BECOMES POSSIBLE

Found is designed to help you understand and work with your body's responses so they have less control over your daily life. For most women this means:

  • Feeling less anxious and on high alert in your relationships

  • Knowing who you are and what you want

  • Better emotional regulation - understanding your reactions and knowing what to do with them

  • Stronger relationships based on trust rather than fear of being left or rejected

  • Experiencing deeper connections without the urge to push people away

  • Less people pleasing and more ability to say no without panic

  • Improved self-esteem and a more stable sense of self-worth

  • Letting go of the feeling that there's something fundamentally wrong with you

  • Responding to life rather than constantly reacting to it

This work is personal and non-linear. How it unfolds is different for every woman. But these are some of the areas we work toward together.

HERE'S HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

Tracking your body's responses

We pinpoint exactly where your body holds tension, panic, or numbness — no more wondering why the hell did I react like that?

Working with your emotions

Safely experience and move through intense emotional waves, so you can tolerate difficult moments without shutting down, running away, or doing anything to make sure you're still liked.

Calming your nervous system

Simple, real-time tools to help your body move out of high alert and come back to the moment when your old wound is triggered.

Updating your brain

We unpack the automatic habits — perfectionism, constant people-pleasing — and build new supportive habits that actually feel like you, not who you were taught to be.

If you’ve spent your life feeling like there’s something missing,  the last thing you need is someone trying to fix you.  You need someone who understands what actually matters when it comes to healing this very specific wound.

Adoption changes your nervous system from the very beginning; it’s a foundational part of your story, not a disease to be cured. We’re not trying to erase your history, but to change how your body responds to it, so you can feel more in control of your relationships, your behaviour, your whole life

A PROMISE

  • No performance required. You don’t need to be the good girl, the high achiever, or the perfect client. Your raw grief, anger, and confusion are welcome.

  • Attention, not explanations. We work with the reactions - the panic, the freeze, the hypervigilance - in real life and in real time.

  • Choosing you, not a side. Love your adoptive family, grieve your biological roots, or feel angry at both with zero judgment from me.

  • Tools for you. You won't leave exhausted by your emotions. We build your toolkit of real-time somatic techniques so you can guide yourself back to safety.

  • Pacing set by your body. We move entirely at your nervous system's speed, never forcing you to go anywhere you're not ready for.

HOW IT WORKS

We meet fortnightly over six months — twelve sessions, one to one, online. And there’s WhatsApp support between sessions because you don’t just feel your emotions when we’re together.

There's no fixed programme to follow -  each woman is different, each wound is unique.  So every Found session is tailored to help you with your own specific challenges - whether it’s helping you to say NO more often, cope with the idea of letting someone down, or dealing with the ever-present sense that there’s something fundamentally wrong with you.  All of it matters.

I'm Denise.

I always knew I was adopted. I never thought it was a problem, until I couldn't deny that it was.

I'd put my chronic people-pleasing and imposter feelings down to lack of confidence. I tried journaling, affirmations, meditations, breathwork, and consumed a gazillion self-help books. Some of it helped but nothing really changed.

Then in my fifties, everything changed. As my relationship broke down I was blindsided by my reactions and floored by my emotions.

What helped me get back to myself was somatic work — the same embodied approach I offer you.  It helped me stop seeing everything as a threat, build stronger relationships based on mutual respect not fear of rejection, and taught me to view things as they are instead of seeing life through a lens of “I’m not good enough and nobody wants me.”

When I first searched for help I couldn't find what I needed. Now I've created Found to give you the help I was looking for back then.
